Every candle you buy from Light of Mine offers a single mother hope. Each candle is handmade by single mothers in Eben Ministries’ program. They earn a fair profit from each candle sold, offering them financial support without requiring daycare, transportation, or prior skills. Learn about the mom who made your candle below.
Cecelia’s Story…
When Cecelia first came to Eben Ministries, her future was uncertain for her and her baby. However, from the moment she arrived, Cecelia showed determination to build a better life. Cecelia has stable employment, income, homelife, and more, yet candle making provides her with supplemental income. Not only does it provide financially, but it also gives her a creative outlet all wrapped up in one.. This supplemental income helps Cecelia purchase essentials for her baby, save for the future, and relieve some financial stress. Cecelia’s candles are made with care, attention to detail, and a quality that can’t be matched.
Candle making also gave her something greater: Confidence. She sold her first candles at our gala! She sold a total of eleven in one night, and that was not a small accomplishment! This experience helps strengthen her commitment to the program and fuels her passion to grow. Cecelia has shown great success through this opportunity and she’s so grateful for every purchase of one of her candles.
Amelia’s Story…
Amelia is in a season of both anticipation and transformation. She is expecting her first child in October. While actively taking a major step toward long-term success: working toward her high school diploma through online classes.
Her days are full—preparing for her baby, studying hard, and doing everything she can to build a solid foundation. In the meantime, Light of Mine Candles has become a meaningful source of financial support. Making and selling candles helps ease the immediate financial stress and gives Amelia a sense of purpose and progress through Eben’s program.
Each candle she sells is a small but powerful step toward her dreams. With education, perseverance, and heart, Amelia is creating a new path forward—for herself and for the child she’s preparing to welcome into the world.
Michelle’s Story…
Minnie joined Eben Ministries after experiencing homelessness and the premature birth of her daughter. Facing this life-changing challenge with strength and grace, Minnie showed incredible resilience and determination every step of the way.
After coming to Eben, she began working hard to build a stable and bright future for herself and her daughter. With a heart full of hope, Minnie took steps toward growth and healing. Minnie came to know Christ as her Lord and Savior! She grew in her faith and reliance on God through every decision, milestone, and hardship. She selflessly and confidently chose adoption for her daughter. Although this was a difficult decision, she felt this was the best decision for her daughter–a decision that only a loving mother can make. Minnie has since transitioned from Eben and is now thriving in a sober living environment!
Each candle she helped create brings her closer to her personal goals—financial independence, emotional healing, and a strong foundation for her future.
Minnie’s journey is a testament to perseverance and the power of community support. We are so proud of her and the growth she worked so hard for during her time at Eben.
